Chalk Cliffs - Cuckmere Haven
Updated: Mar 30
Today we went to the chalk cliffs (Cuckmere Haven) near Seaford and Seven Sisters (East Sussex) in the search for some fossils and I really don’t know what to say. I knew it’d be pretty, but it was just insanely gorgeous.
It was a windy, chilly but sunny. So we ventured.
We parked at Seven Sisters County Park and walked about a mile to the beach. It was sort of the perfect distance to walk with a 5 year old. We took (as you can imagine) loads of breaks to rest. There was an incredible amount to explore and see and play with. We gave our boy a big snack on the way so he wouldn’t be super hungry throughout the walk. We obviously dressed for the occasion. Wellies, a must. So many puddles, so much fun!
The walk took about 50-60 minutes. We were starting to flake at some point, but then we got the beach and that gave us another boost of energy. My favourite moment of the whole adventure was when our boy just lied down on the beach and we all joined him. We looked at the sky for like 2 minutes without talking. It was the best.
We walked to the cliffs to see if we could find some fossils. My husband sort of found one and our kid found all sorts of quirky rocks (and some rubbish, not so nice).
We then walked back, had lunch at the pub nearby and came back home. Thoroughly recommend visiting the cliffs on a clear day like today. So much to explore. So much fun!
